Deliver Consistent PIP and PEEP with Every Neonatal Breath
SafeTâ„¢ T-Piece Resuscitator is the Safe Solution for Neonatal Resuscitation and CPAP
In the United States, approximately 10% of newborns need breathing assistance and 1% need intensive resuscitation.¹
Neonatal resuscitation is an emergency procedure in which clinicians are trained to act fast when an infant is not breathing or breathing with difficulty. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) guidelines recommend clinicians begin early positive pressure ventilation (PPV) within one minute of birth if a newborn is struggling to breathe.¹
The NRP, the American Heart Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation recommend using a T-piece resuscitator over a self-inflating bag to deliver PPV to newborns in need of resuscitation.²
The SafeT T-Piece Resuscitator is the safe solution for neonatal resuscitation and CPAP. Designed specifically for use on the delicate lungs of premature babies and newborns under 22 pounds, the SafeT T-Piece enables clinicians to deliver continuous oxygen flow while providing consistent PIP and PEEP pressures.
Clinicians pre-set PIP and PEEP before use and ventilate the patient by covering and uncovering the PEEP dial hole at the desired respiratory rate. The integrated, color-coded pressure manometer confirms the pressure so clinicians can focus on the patient, unlike other T-piece systems that require looking back and forth at the manometer. PIP and PEEP can be easily adjusted during resuscitation if needed. A pressure relief valve helps prevent over-pressurization of tiny lungs and an optional tethered pop-off override cap on the inspiratory pressure controller is available for when pressures greater than 40 cm H20 are needed.
The SafeT T-Piece allows clinicians to respond quickly and effectively to the respiratory emergencies of their smallest patients. And because there is no resuscitation bag to squeeze, hand fatigue and inconsistencies in rate and pressure are eliminated. Six cushioned face mask sizes are available to ensure proper sealing during ventilation and the oxygen tubing with a universal red Fits-All O2 connector allows immediate visualization of proper oxygen connection.
Guidelines Recommend T-Piece Resuscitators Over Other Neonatal Resuscitation Devices
The NRP, the American Heart Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation recommend using a T-Piece resuscitator over other neonatal resuscitation devices.
The SafeTâ„¢ T-Piece neonatal resuscitator has more features and functionality than a Bag Valve Mask (BVM) and hyperventilation system. Several of these differentiating features include the ability to pre-set and deliver consistent PIP as well as the ability to pre-set maximum pressure and adjust settings during resuscitation.
