An Overview of the Occupational Hazards of Diagnostic Radiology and Solutions 

Developed by the Cardiovascular Learning Network and provided by the North American Center for Continuing Medical Education, the CME course is proxied by Dr. Snyder, Dr. Makary, Dr. Katzen and Dr. Mustapha, all internationally known for their work in interventional radiology. Diagnostic radiology professionals need to know where scatter radiation is in their facility and how to protect themselves and other staff from radiation in the workplace. Studies continue to reveal that health conditions are more common in interventional lab personnel than in unexposed staff. The rate of problems increases with the number of years worked. Medical imaging professionals can have long, safe careers when they monitor their exposure and employ the three principles of radiation protection: time, distance and shielding.
